Ban Amnesty Now has called for all Arizona businesses to stop advertising with the New Times/Village Voice publications in response to allegations of company ties to prostitution and sex trafficking, including that of children.
Ban Amnesty Now said Tuesday that two Phoenix-area businesses - Harkins Theaters and Buddy Stubbs Harley Davidson – have suspended advertising with Phoenix New Times/Village Voice Media.
In a news release, Ban Amnesty Now said “revenues from their advertisements, along with those tied to prostitution and other sordid crimes, are funding the New Times’ vicious attacks against Arizona law enforcement, elected officials and conservative individuals and organizations.”
“No respectable business should be sharing ad-space alongside pedophiles and prostitutes, and until the New Times stops their deviant practices, we’ll continue to ask businesses to stop advertising on their pages,” Ban Amnesty Now President Russell Pearce said.

Scottsdale police arrest 2 in offering girl for prostitution

Scottsdale police arrested two men early Saturday on suspicion of offering a 17-year-old runaway girl from California for prostitution online.
A tip about the online solicitation came from the family of the 17-year-old after she sent text messages to them saying that she was afraid to leave the man because he would “kill her” and “burn her clothes,” according to a Scottsdale police report.

Stallings and Harris were arrested about 12:10 a.m. Saturday and held on suspicion of of several counts related to prostitution.

Stallings denied any knowledge of the prostitution and claimed that he and his friends had driven from California without anyone else.
The girl said that she had traveled from California with Stallings, that he knew she was a minor and that he often drove her to and from prostitution activity and sometimes would keep the proceeds from her prostitution activities, the report said.

I share the shame, the guilt and anger that infected my grandma’s life”, states Khardalian. Grandma’s Tattoos sheds light on the story of thousands of forgotten female survivors of the Armenian Genocide, many of them children and teenagers, who were raped, abducted, and forced into prostitution.
After the film a discussion will take place with Ara Khachatourian, the English editor of Asbarez daily newspaper, and Paula Devine, Chair of the City of Glendale’s Commission on the Status of Women. The program is sponsored by the Glendale Public Library and the Associates of Brand Library & Art Center.
