Police found Mesa resident Richard Carrube’s body, along with that of his 31-year-old co-worker Joshua Adams, in front of Adams’ grandfather’s Cape Girardeau home early Friday morning. Investigators believe Adams shot Carrube after an argument before the turning the gun on himself.
Carrube’s family plans to fly him back to Arizona to be cremated after his body is released. His father, Dan, said “times are tough at the moment,” since they just buried Dan’s brother.
The family has set up a Chase Bank account, No. 3026258107, for contributions.
Dan Carrube said Adams and his son were on their way to Indiana as part of a six-week trip to sell ADT alarm systems. They were planning to stay at Adams’ grandfather’s house instead of a hotel, he said.
“From what we gather from other sources, (the incident that led to the shooting) was something involving money and a strip club,” he said.

Phoenix police: Man forced runaway teen into prostitution
Phoenix police arrested a man Wednesday on suspicion of meeting a 17-year-old girl who was living on the streets and forcing her to prostitute herself.
Michael Marion Cotham, 39, was arrested about 6 p.m. near 16th Street and Camelback Road, said Tommy Thompson, spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.
Police believe the teenage girl ran away from a foster shelter and was living on the streets when she met Cotham, Thompson said.
Police suspect Cotham had the girl prostitute herself for about a month, Thompson said.
Police found two women who authorities suspect were prostituting themselves in connection with Cotham, Thompson said. No charges had been brought against the women.
One woman was arrested for an unrelated misdemeanor warrant, Thompson said.
Child Protective Services took over the care of the girl, Thompson said.

Stephanie Celestial, 23, faces one count of false reporting, indecent exposure and resisting arrest, along with an outstanding felony warrant from California.
An officer conducting a random patrol observed Celestial in the area of 5215 W. Willetta St. with her dress pulled up to her waist. When she realized police were behind her, she slightly pulled her dress down, according to court paperwork.
Police said Celestial gave them a false name keep from being arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. When officers tried to handcuff her, she became upset and began to violently move her body, officers said. Police took her to the ground to prevent any injury to her or the officer.
Celestial told police she her indecent exposure “is how she dresses normally,” court documents said. She told officers that she has been arrested numerous times for prostitution in California and served prison time. Celestial also admitted she was resisting arrest because “she did not want to go back to prison,” court paperwork said.

SEATTLE (AP) – Mayors of nearly 50 cities across the country are urging Village Voice Media to require identification for people posting escort ads on Backpage.com – its online ad service that has come under scrutiny from authorities for allegations that it’s used to promote child prostitution.

Backpage.com critics say the site is used to advertise underage prostitutes who are often victims of sex trafficking. The mayors join state attorney generals, clergy, anti-sex-trafficking groups and others that have put pressure on Village Voice Media, Backpage.com’s parent company.

Shared Hope International has compiled a list of dozens of cases in 15 states in which girls were allegedly offered for sex on Backpage.com, most within the past year. The Seattle Police Department says it has linked 22 cases of child prostitution since 2010 to girls who were advertised as escorts on the website.

Phoenix police arrested a man early Wednesday morning on suspicion of holding a 17-year-old San Diego girl against her will and trying to force her into prostitution in Phoenix.
Michael Cantry, 32, was arrested just after midnight at an apartment complex near McDowell Road and 41st Avenue in Phoenix, said Officer James Holmes, spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.

Cantry is suspected of using fear to force the teenage girl and adult woman to “walk the streets” and make money for him, Holmes said. Cantry told the woman and the teenager, according to police, that each needed to make $500 for him before they could leave a well-known prostitution track in Phoenix.
The woman eventually participated in a prostitution deal but the girl didn’t because she was scared, Holmes said.
