And while we can only hope to be on beard-watch while skulking around Yorkville this September, Reuters reports that it’s “undetermined” whether Phoenix will have any part in the promotion of the film — I mean, what with his bustling hip-hop career and what-not.
That said, it sounds like the hope is I’m Still Here will sell itself. Magnolia’s Eamonn Bowles shilled the movie to Deadline Hollywood by saying: “It is going to get a lot of attention, but it is not some cheap stunt where they said, ‘Let’s do some wild stuff and film it.’ It is extreme behavior but really good filmmaking as well.”
But all we care about is this more illustrative bit of intel (a good sell is all about showing, not telling, kids). According to one of Deadline’s sources, who saw a preview screening of the movie, the non-mockumentary includes a scene where “Phoenix is seen snorting coke of the breast of a prostitute.”
